Protesting innocence outside the court in the Colombian capital of Bogota, Ms Shakira's hips' lawyers said that they "you know my hips don't lie".
However, Manuel Fe Fefefe, the prosecuting barrister in the case, said that: "The facts speak for themselves - over a period of at least ten years, Shakira's hips have repeatedly misled, lied or otherwise deceived the public."
On tonight?
He listed his allegations, from minor matters as to whether she really did like her best friend's new hairstyle, to her role in the Iran-Contra affair and, worst of all to her many fans, whether she truly was "on tonight" as she declares in her songs.
Mr Fefefe added that if proven guilty, the chanteuse could face several years behind bars in Colombia's notorious prisons.
"However, bearing in mind the gravity of the situation, this is only fair," he added.
Rag week
Ms Shakira's lawyers have repeatedly denied any knowing lying on the part of her bodily parts, saying that if there were any misconceptions, "it was in totally good faith".
On asked if anyone had ever confused Ms Shakira's breasts with mountains, her defence team said that that matter was still being decided by the Ordnance Survey and gave no further comment.
